CEO’s/Marketers Warned of Inevitable Cyber Security ‘Storm’

Forbes.com published the first in a three part series on “why CEO’s and marketers need to wake up to the cyber security storm that is approaching.”  Writer Kimberly Whitler says she’s been interested in the topic of marketing’s role in data breaches “for some time.” As such, she interviewed Holly Rollo, the CMO of RSA, the Security Division of ERC who talked about the what, why and how of security incidents.

In this Q&A, Rollo discussed three types of security incidents and why it’s important to be precise when using terms like intrusion, compromise and breach. It’s clear from the story that Rollo knows her stuff but the most interesting quote is this: “Information is one of the most valuable assets of an organization – whether intellectual property, personal data, or sensitive business information, most organizations have something that is valuable to someone else. Hence, every organization is a potential target.”
